We’ve been quietly updating the Sunrise Semester site so it’s easier to find a meeting, open the right format, and get ready to serve. Here’s what’s new.

A clearer home on the web

The site navigation is simpler: Meetings is front and center, with Newcomer, Stories, Resources, and Our group close by. Under More you’ll find Reflections, Literature, Events, and Group service (chair & sherpa for the week, commitment schedules, and business meeting minutes).

A few other upgrades worth knowing about:

  • Resources is now a living library — meeting formats, guides, service materials, and AA links, managed by the group instead of hardcoded pages.
  • From Meetings, each day’s card can open the format PDF for that meeting (weekday, Saturday men’s, Sunday morning).
  • Members can sign in under Member account to manage their profile.
  • Occasional announcement banners at the top of the site will point to news like this when we have something to share.

If something looks different next time you open the site, that’s intentional — same group, clearer tools.

Meeting formats, where you need them

Formats live in two places on purpose:

  1. On the Meetings page — use the format button on the meeting you’re attending.
  2. In Resources → Meeting formats — browse or download anytime.

Chairs and Sherpas: grab the format before the meeting starts so you’re not hunting for a file while people are joining the waiting room.

Sherpa training & the Zoom guide

Sherpas keep the Zoom room safe and steady so the meeting can stay focused on recovery. If you’re new to the role — or you want a refresher — start here:

Sherpa Guide: Zoom Administration

It covers the essentials:

  • Pre-meeting setup (waiting room, passwords, lock after start)
  • Keeping disruptors out
  • Mute / unmute and video controls
  • Participant management (co-host, waiting room, remove)
  • Common troubleshooting when someone’s audio or connection goes sideways

There’s also a short host controls quick reference at the bottom of that page.

Weekly chair and sherpa assignments are listed under Group service so you can see who’s on for the week.

Want to help?

If you’d like to chair, sherpa, or help keep formats and resources current, bring it up in the meeting or talk with a trusted servant. Service on this site is the same as service in the room: show up, stay curious, and pass it on.
